Children and young people aged 3-18 years can enjoy exciting and unique performing arts summer schools in Scarborough this August, courtesy of The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts.

Held at the YMCA in Scarborough, the short courses will cater for all young people interested in the performing arts, and will teach a wide range of disciplines such as singing, dance, acting, film-making, directing and more. The schools are open to current PQA students as well as non-PQA students.

Principal James Aconley said:
"We are really looking forward to bringing our exciting Summer Schools to Scarborough this year. We know there are some really talented young people in the town and we can't wait to meet some of them this August."
For 6-18 year olds, PQA will be running a Make A Jukebox Musical week this August. Students will spend 5 days with industry professionals to write and perform their own jukebox musical. Plotting the narrative, choosing songs, rehearsing musical numbers and creating short films are just a few of the things the students can look forward to, culminating in a performance on the final afternoon for parents and families.

The Make A Jukebox Musical week will run Tues 18th – Sat 22nd August 2015 10.00am – 4.00pm. Prices are £125 for PQA students and £150 for non-PQA students.

PQA's exclusive 3 day course for 3-5 year olds is based on the hit film Frozen. The students will embark on an imaginary adventure to the world of Frozen, exploring the main characters and learning musical numbers from the film, before performing them on the last day to friends and family!

The Frozen themed workshops will run Tues 18th – Thurs 20th August 2015 10.00am – 12.15pm. Prices are £50 for PQA students and £60 for non-PQA students.
"The schools will be taught by industry professionals who are experts in their fields. We have some amazing ideas and we can't wait to bring them to life with the children and young people." James added.
The courses will take place at YMCA Scarborough on St Thomas Street in Scarborough.
